How do I get there?

Is it safe?

Probably not. There is always risk of injury involved with even just simply walking outside.  This is a family friendly event and safety measures have been taken, however, there are 13 challenging obstacles, water, mud, rocks, tripping hazards, uneven ground, slippery grass, and many other ways that you could get injured.  You must be careful and understand your own limitation when attempting an obstacle or participating in the event.  The Viking Challenge is over rugged terrain and obstacles that are challenging.  Small children MUST be accompanied by an adult during the entire course.  It is a parental decision to allow children under 18 to participate and children on the course who are less than 12 MUST have a parent or legal guardian with them at all times.

Participants and spectators enter and participate at your own risk.   Every effort has been taken to make it a safe, fun day for everyone.  There will be a medical tent for first aid along with paramedics and an ambulance on site throughout the event.

Para-Corp medical management will be on site coordinating the medical teams in case of an emergency.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->Can we compete as a team?

Yes.  Teams are encouraged to register.  Teams are for fun.  There is not a team score or time. Just individual times.  Teams however can help each other through the course, encourage each other to keep going, raise money for their cause by getting sponsors for their team and getting pledges for the charities.

There are two ways to register as a team.  Team captains can assemble their entire team and enter and pay for all participants using the "GROUP/TEAM" registration catagory.  Using this method, team captains cannot add new members later and the team captains must pay for all participants and enter all of them at one time.

The other option for TEAMS is to have the TEAM CAPTAIN register and CREATE a new team.  Then the team captain can invite others to join the team.  Individuals wanting to register for a team would select individual registration catagory and "JOIN" an existing team once the team captain has created it.  Select the team you wish to join and you will be part of the team.  This option allows teams to be created and individuals to pay for and register seperately.  There is no limit to the number that can join your team.  There is a discount applied after "JOINING" a team from the regular individual registration price.

Teams do not receive a TEAM time.  Individuals on the team receive the time and race results for all individuals will be posted on-line after the race. Compete as a team or individually.  Raise additional money for your charity as a team.  Its all about the challenge, the mud, the sweat, the fun and the money raised for our chairites!

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->I am not in good shape can I do this?

People of all ages will be participating in The Viking Challenge.  If your not in good shape, maybe you should train a little so you don't hurt yourself.  Also, it's just more healthy to be in shape!  Any ability level can walk or  run in the event.  You could stop and take a rest during the course if you want.  Chest pain, shortness of breath, and other symptoms are normal for me when I run 5K, but I'm not in shape.  If you experience these symptoms, you probably should seek medical help.  Remember, we have medical personnel available throughout the day but it is a good idea to be in shape for this challenge.   There are no rules except that you must stay on the course and you assume all risk while on the property.

What if I can not swim?

Although there is some mud and water, there is NO swimming necessary unless you go off the track on your own and jump in the lake!  It’s not allowed, and again it is at your own risk.  If you go into the water, then you should know how to swim.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->What is Packet Pickup?

Participants can pick up their runners bag when they “check in”.  Your bag includes your race bib with safety pins, your t-shirt, your extra t-shirts if ordered online, and some extra “goodies” to keep and use while in Fergus Falls and Otter Tail County.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->What should I bring?

  1. Your photo ID (required at packet pick-up).
  2. A change of clothes.
  3. To save time at check in, please sign the participants waiver form online at active.com

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->What should I wear?

Clothes.  Really....thats a question?  Who makes up these questions?

If it is cold wear something warm, or if it is hot then wear something not so hot.  Should be a nice fall day so plan accordingly.  After you are done running (short, t-shirt, costume, tennis shoes), have some dry clean clothes to change into for the music and watching the rest of the runners.  You can wear a team T-shirt, running shirt, uniform, creative costumes, or anything you don’t mind getting dirty or muddy.

Running shoes or shoes with good support that can get wet, muddy, dirty, and if you choose, donated to Greensneakers when finished. We will have a shoe drop area for Greensneakers marked where they will be cleaned and donated.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->When is the post race party?

Continuous throughout the day.  DJ music will play throughout the event, and in the evening a seperate live concert is planned with THE BIG WU,  the battle of the bands winner, and Weathered Wood beginning around 6pm.  The Viking Challenge participants will receive admission to this music event.  Others coming for the concert will pay for admission to that event seperately.  Food vendors and beverages (including adult beverages) are available all day and into the evening.  Bonfire will begin when it is lit.  Probably early evening sometime.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->What if it rains?

It will be a blast if it does (Jill), and a blast if it doesn’t.  Either way, you're getting muddy, dirty, wet, and tired if you participate.  Spectators may want to have rain gear.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->Are there showers available after the race?

Yes, there is a "rinse area" to shower off following the run.  If you want "HOT" water, then depending on where you are staying (see "WHERE CAN I STAY?" below), it might be available there.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->Will there be drinking water along the way?

Yes, people will be drinking water along the way.  We will have volunteers stationed at each mile marker with tables of water available to runners and walkers.  First aid personnel will be at these areas or race personnel will be able to contact our first aid folks if needed.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->Can you mail in your entry?

No.  All registration is done online through ACTIVE.COM registration system.  Do not mail.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->Can I   get a refund?

Sorry, there are no refunds or transfer of your registration fee to another person for any reason.

<!--[if !vml]-->Description: Description: Warrior Dash<!--[endif]-->Waiting list?

Please check back if the time slot or race is FULL.  We may increase numbers of runners and add race times if needed.

Race day registration?

If the race is not FULL by race day there will be registrations accepted, however there is no guarantee that late registrations (after September 1, 2012) will receive a participant T-Shirt or timing chip for timing your individual run.  These need to be ordered in advance and although we will order some extra for race day registrations, there is no guarantee that you will receive one.  We will not be mailing T-shirts out to late registrations.  If they are available you will pick it up when you register.  If none are available you can purchase T-shirts on-site until they are sold out.  To guarantee a t-shirt and timing chips, be sure to register by September1, 2012.
